Question submitted June 27, 2002.
I have just been diagnosed as having
an incisional hernia after having a c-section. It's quite a severe
hernia with no support for my bowel. I am awaiting an appointment
with a consultant to discuss my case further. My big concern is will
this affect future pregnancies? If I have a "mesh repair"
will I be able to carry another baby? I really am quite concerned,
can you give me any information at all please?
I'm
afraid I know very little about the implications of your type of hernia
on future pregnancies. I do urge you to get more than one opinion,
to take with you a trusted friend or family member to your consultation
appointments, and to make clear to the specialist your desire for
a future pregnancy. Good luck!!
